Centova Cast FAQ

What stream URL do I need to submit to internet radio directories?

Most directories need direct stream links, which generally play directly in your browser when clicked.
You can find your direct stream link under the Quick Links page in Centova Cast.

Examples of direct stream links:

---

How can I modify the start page?

- This page is automatically generated by Centova and cannot be edited.
- It is not recommended to use this page as your station website.
- You can disable certain widgets from within the Centova Cast configuration settings.

---

How can I upload via FTP (File Transfer Protocol)?

- Your FTP details can be found on the Quick Links page in Centova Cast.
- Important: Leave the port field empty! Using the server port will result in an error.

---

Help! My server crashes after a few minutes

- This usually happens when you broadcast at a higher bitrate than allowed by your plan.
- Centova Cast checks this every few minutes and will crash the server if you exceed your limit.
- Ensure you are streaming at or below your permitted bitrate.
- If the issue continues, contact support.

---

When does my bandwidth limit reset?

- Centova Cast does not link to any billing system, so it does not know your subscription dates.
- Monthly limits (e.g., bandwidth) are counted from the 1st to the last day of the calendar month.
- If you exceed your limit:
- Centova Cast will suspend your account.
- Your account will be unsuspended on upgrade or on the 1st of the next month.

---

How can I modify the default artwork?

- When Centova Cast can’t find artwork for your music, it falls back to the default.
- Originally, Centova Cast did not allow changing this yourself.
- Streamerr developed an integration with Player, which syncs artwork with Centova Cast.
- To change default artwork:
1. Configure artwork in Player (Control).
2. The new artwork will sync to Centova Cast within a few hours.

---

Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS)

- Modern browsers use CORS in APIs like XMLHttpRequest or Fetch for security.
- SHOUTcast: Sends CORS headers since version 2.5.
- Icecast: Requires a special configuration option (not supported by Centova Cast).
- For Icecast, use radioca.st, which sends the required headers.
